Historial de Thune sobre gasto, armas, etanol, TARP o defensa

En un amplio artículo de cinco páginas, The Argus Leader analiza el historial legislativo del Senador John Thune:

(...) Championing subsidies and tax breaks for the ethanol industry makes you a hero in South Dakota. In a Republican presidential primary, it gets you branded a supporter of corporate welfare.

If Sen. John Thune decides to seek the 2012 GOP nomination for the White House, the South Dakota Republican's 12 years on Capitol Hill as a House member and senator will have to withstand the scrutiny of party loyalists who prize conservative credentials. Despite a solidly right-of-center record, his support for ethanol, farm subsidies and other programs important to his home state could put him at odds with some influential conservatives who are instrumental in deciding the next nominee.

"You're never pure enough for some group on some issue," Thune said in a recent interview.

"There's isolated cases where people are going to attack you for this vote or that vote. But for the most part, people judge you on the totality of your record. And my record is very conservative."

Creo que sería un excepcional candidato aunque ya veremos si es capaz de crear, en caso de que finalmente decida presentarse, una estructura de recaudación de fondos que es imprescindible para competir con éxito en una elección.

Alguien ha visto el artículo sobre el gobernador Daniels en Político.com ? Se indica que Mitch Daniels es el preferido entre las elites en Washington.
